I know, I know, I’m becoming one of those people. One of those people who talk about CrossFit all the time. It’s just that it keeps on surprising me all the time. In the 2 weeks since I started, I have seen a HUGE difference in my body. It’s almost alarming (in a good way of course). Of course, the whole point is to lose weight, get stronger, become fitter, be healthier, and all that good stuff. But there is so much more going on here that I hadn’t anticipated. Part of the miracle that is CrossFit is the amazing community of people you become part of when you join. I can’t speak for all the boxes out there, but mine- Reebok Crossfit YUL has an amazing community of people.
If it weren’t for these people (including the coaches of course) I wouldn’t be able to complete the workouts. This I know for a fact. Just being in that room, sharing in the experience together, let’s me push myself past a point that I thought I could reach. The workouts are so tough, but you almost don’t realize it. I get so focused on each part of the workout, and just trying to get through it, that I don’t even see the time pass. I almost get disoriented sometimes, or forget I’m there with everyone during the WOD, until some amazing person will come out of nowhere and scream:” Let’s do this Lauren, Don’t stop! We’re almost there!” And that is a total game-changer. It seems to always happen just when I am reaching my breaking point, and you know what? It helps push me through.
I can’t stress enough how much I am enjoying this adventure. I can’t wait to see what’s in store!
